Finlandia
Finlandia Sauna has been manufacturing authentic Finnish Saunas since 1964. Finlandia is the oldest Sauna company under original ownership, and is located in the Finlandia Business Park in Portland, Oregon, the heart of the timber country, to provide the best quality and selection of softwoods. Unlike many of our competitors, we are specialists, Sauna is our only business. Finlandia Sauna builds standard and custom, precut and prefabricated Saunas out of premium, clear western softwoods. We import our Sauna heaters from Harvia Oy in Finland, because their heaters are unequaled in quality and in providing the right Sauna climate for the bather.
WHY Helka
BUILT SUSTAINABLY USING NATURAL MATERIALS
Hekla saunas are built with Thermowood, which is 100% natural. The heat treatment process is chemical-free, and improved performance is achieved simply by the controlled application of heat and steam.

Our wood material is certified Nordic Spruce, sourced from Northern European forests and grown sustainably. Thermally modified Nordic Spruce is an aesthetically pleasing wood material significantly more durable and stable than conventional timber.

Roof shingles are also provided on the roof to protect the sauna and increase insulation.
Thermowood
Thermowood is wood subjected to a heat treatment process that involves heating the wood to high temperatures (usually between 200 220°C) without oxygen. This process changes the chemical and physical properties of the wood, making it more durable and resistant to decay.

Why is a Barrel Sauna so effective?
HEATS QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY
With less unused space (imagine a circle inside a square), the barrel design lets the heater do its job faster and more efficiently. In a square sauna, the heat gets trapped in the ceiling. In a barrel sauna, the heat is pushed back down the curved sides and into the sauna as new heat rises from the heater.
REQUIRES NO MAINTENANCE
Barrel saunas naturally shed water and can handle a substantial snow load due to their structural integrity. The polymer support cradles let you put the barrel on any flat surface, and the Thermowood is naturally resistant to water and insects.
SAVES ENERGY
Because there is less unused airspace to heat, less energy is required to heat the room. The thick staves are excellent insulators, and the sauna's exterior will remain cool.
ACCOMMODATES TEMPERATURE FLUX
The ball-and-socket assembly of a barrel sauna lets the wood expand and contract within the steel bands, creating a tight seal that won't shatter.

Why is a Cube Sauna so effective?
HEATS QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY
The cube design of the sauna, with less unused space (imagine a circle inside a square), allows the heater to operate faster and more efficiently. In a square sauna, heat tends to get trapped in the ceiling. However, in a cube sauna, the heat is pushed back down along the curved sides, circulating into the sauna. This design promotes effective heat distribution, as new heat rises from the heater.
